Unlayer's AI Assistant does not support bringing your own AI provider key. AI usage runs entirely through Unlayer, and you purchase AI credits from us. Because of this, the "our key + Unlayer costs" billing split described in the questions below does not apply.
How Unlayer AI billing actually works
Unlayer measures all AI usage in credits, drawn from a single shared bucket per workspace. Every AI feature, project, and end user in that workspace draws from the same balance. There is no fixed per-request charge; a request uses credits according to the work performed. As a rough guide, a small text or block edit uses tens of credits, generating or editing an image uses dozens of credits per image, and full-template generation or an HTML/website import uses hundreds to a couple thousand credits.
You buy these credits from Unlayer directly. There is no Anthropic (Claude) bill on your side, because you are not supplying or using your own provider key.
Where credits come from
AI is a paid feature. Credits are purchased from the Unlayer Console → Billing area, where eligible plans can also add capacity through Add-ons. Recurring plan and credit-pack capacity resets at the next monthly boundary.
FAQ
Does the webhook usage include both our Claude API calls and Unlayer's?
There are no separate "your Claude API calls." All AI runs through Unlayer, so the webhooks report a single figure: your Unlayer AI credit usage. There is nothing else to combine it with.
If we supply our own Claude key, will it bill our Claude account, with extra Unlayer costs on top?
This scenario does not exist on Unlayer. You cannot supply your own key, so nothing is billed to a Claude account of yours, and there is no "Unlayer surcharge on top of your provider bill." Your only AI cost is the Unlayer credits you purchase.
So what do the webhooks tell us?
The server-side AI Credits API and webhooks give you the complete billing record: credits consumed per request and your workspace balance over time. They report Unlayer credit consumption only, not any external provider spend, because there is none.

You cannot use your own Claude (or other provider) API key with Unlayer.
AI is billed by Unlayer in credits, purchased from the Console.
Billing is self-contained: there is no separate provider bill and no Unlayer markup layered on top of one.
